I am interested in the contrast between the analytic character of science as well as the imaginative and creative processes found in art. My work investigates biological forms and scientific studies of nature through the creation of imagined environments.

I utilize scientific investigative processes to examine imaginary landscapes from my childhood. I have chosen to rationally and thoroughly explore these personal landscapes, imagining myself physically present in the spaces. My preliminary studies, which include drawing and writing, have changed my relationship with these fantasies. Through this process these spaces are no longer vague ephemeral settings, but become a more tangible environment that I am able to personally experience. I have experimented with a variety of mediums including photography, modeling, and video to develop an assortment of objects, artifacts, and data.  Each piece serves as physical proof of an invented place and works together to help create a plausible narrative.

My work seeks to examine how proof and information begin to blur the line between fantasy and truth. This exploration highlights and calls into question the power structures and cultural systems that filter and shape information.
