“Escape into the illusion, bask in the glow of the screen. Find your scene stretched and distorted as the grid starts to loosen. Escape through this filter, past the clouds and out to the stars.”
Seemly benign images appear on our screens and create a landscape that surrounds and shapes us. The origins of this visual landscape often unknown, obscured or purposely hidden. In this work, I am investigating our relationship with digital media and the complex environment that it creates. A place that is beautiful, harsh, intrusive, overwhelming, manipulative, and possibly sincere. I started on this series as a reaction to being overwhelmed and conflicted with mixed messages and manipulation of commercial imagery.
